In July 2015, lone parents will lose entitlement to One Parent Family Allowance, when their youngest child turns 7. This will have no financial impact on lone parents not working. However, a lone parent working on  minimum wage will lose up to 18 % of their income.

Ireland has some of the highest childcare costs in the world, is it feasible to expect a lone parent to be able to work on mimimum wage without providing support for childcare.

63% of One Parent Families have have or more forms of deprivation. 23% of one parent families live in consistent poverty.

Can there be any justification for inflicting the deepest cuts on our poorest children?

Please find attached a breakdown of actual losses faced by lone parents from July. The figures speak for themselves.
